Tainted Blood (summary)

The setting is in a rather divided city called Stonehaven, the town is divided on race (Humans are rich and the Nymphs are slaves) Alyria BrimeStone is a young Nymph girl and her life is basically her trying to get out of the squaller walled in community that she is forced to live in, and wants to explore to see what the outside looks like. The cold sensation that has been hounding her all her life catches up to her and it is revealed that she has ice magic. Taken to the tower, she is imprisoned for eight years and flees when she is given a strange disease that eats away at her to only leave behind her magic, back to her home only to find that her family isn't as rose tinted as she remembered she ends up leaving with a tall awkward blonde man, his elder brother and a strange demon woman who tells her that her mother in the north may have a cure to her illness. Now fugitives for Alyria's crimes of killing a noble man and the framing of her killing all of those who were in the tower they are on their way to Northwood.

Main protagonists

Alyria BrimeStone: The main protagonist, Alyria is a very determined person, with a hot temper to match- she is quite short even for a nymph and has two unexplained diamond shaped birthmarks on her cheeks, her ice magic is like a caged animal the more she feeds it the stronger it gets, the more she starves it the more it howls.

Amin Dowsing: One of the Duke's former guards, until he met Alyria. Rather awkward, especially when it comes to women he however has a good sense of humour. Also he is quite dim and unsure of himself but incredibly loyal to his friends. He fights quite well with a sword and shield.

Callun Dowsing: Only follows to make sure that his little brother Amin isn't killed on the way, he however teases him constantly. Unlike his brother, Callun is very good at talking to women and other things as well… He has a slight drinking problem, his problem being that he can't get drunk anymore without a large effort.  Excellent in combat, he wields a two handed blade.

Eyarii: The mysterious woman that they are trusting to lead them to Northwood for Alyria's cure. A succubi demon, she is beautiful but deadly- she is also quite selfish and has no reserves in killing someone for what she wants. A thief, she walks in heels and yet makes no sound. Also she has illusion magic, can craft and wield bombs and has a strange skeleton hand that instantly kills a man with a single touch that she keeps gloved.

Main Antagonists:

Thomas Roland: The duke of Stonehaven's son, he tries to marry Alyria against her will, but she ends up accidently killing him.

Zachan Roland: Thomas Roland's elder brother, tried to marry Atheniny, Alyria's elder sister at the same time as Thomas trying to marry Alyria.

Seth: The tower guard that tricked Alyria into believing him and getting caught and dragged to the tower, makes her life a worse hell in the tower when she becomes older and he begins putting advances on her.

Soris: A trainee tower guard that also tries to put himself onto Alyria constantly, he is roughly the same age as her though unlike Seth who is much older.

Silas Fletcher: An elven man from the south with a sharp wit, sees everything and everyone around him as an experiment.

Orlin: Alyria's father, tried to sell Atheniny and Alyria to the Roland brothers to be their 'brides' (they have several such women) And only truly loves money.

Nelarosan: Alyria's best friend, fell in love with her and Alyria in love with him.
Went crazy with unspoken feelings and decided to try necromancy to help them escape. Ends up killing everyone in the tower, asides from himself and Alyria and runs away as Alyria now hates him.

Supporting cast.

Eyshalta: Alyria's mother loved her two girls but died trying to save Alyria from going to the tower. Used to be an adventurer in her early days, and had magic just like her younger daughter.

Atheniny: Alyria's elder sister, got anything she wanted from their father and was deemed the favourite, ended up working the docks when she became older and ended up dying when the weddings fell apart.

Headmistress: The towers headmistress, seemed to not be as bad as the tower guards but was only in control of certain things, died with everyone else in the tower.

Amin and Callun's mother: A hapless drunk that seems to hate Amin, drinking to help with the death of her husband.

Animal companions:

Frostbite: The kitten that Alyria finds underneath a bridge being chased by Stonehaven gaurds once Alyria escapes from the tower. Frostbite is a familiar and was drawn to her as they share the same magic type: ice.

Mr Schnuffles/Buck: Amin and Callun's dog, Amin calls him Mr Schnuffles while Callun calls him buck- responds to both names. Callun bought him to be a war dog, very loyal to his masters.

Ashwinder: An incredibly intellegent snake that follows Eyarii, holds no magic of its own and must rely on his mistress to provide him with any.
